Sulochana Parihar of Balaghat inMadhya Pradesh once led a simple and satisfied family life. However, the COVID-19 pandemic brought an unexpected and devastating turn when she lost her husband. The sudden loss left her emotionally shaken, while the responsibility of running the household fell entirely on her shoulders. For many, such circumstances can be overwhelming, but Sulochana chose resilience over despair and decided to fight back. 

Earlier, Sulochana supported her family by doing tailoring work alongside her husband, who ran a small business. After his demise, she had to manage everything alone, her son’s education, household expenses, and concerns about the future.

Her boutique provides employment to 11 women

In this difficult phase, her skills became her greatest strength. Determined to rebuild her life, she expanded her tailoring work and started a boutique named Shraddha Boutique in Mardikar Gali, Ward No. 22, Balaghat. What began as a small initiative gradually transformed into a successful enterprise. Today, her boutique provides employment to 11 women in need.

Sulochana is not only rebuilding her own life but also helping others shape theirs. The women working at her boutique come from economically weaker backgrounds. She offers them 40% commission, enabling them to earn a respectable income and support their families, including their children’s education and house rent.

She says that having faced hardships herself, she understands the struggles of women working with her. This empathy has made her not only a successful entrepreneur but also a compassionate and inspiring leader.

Sulochana now earns a net monthly income of Rs 50,000 to 60,000 through her boutique. She specialises in stitching blouses, lehengas, salwar suits, frocks, and designer dresses, establishing a strong identity for herself in the community. Academically, she holds a postgraduate degree in Sociology along with a PGDCA.

Equally committed to her son’s education

She is equally committed to her son’s education, who is currently pursuing an MCA. Sulochana herself aspires to pursue a PhD, and her son is determined to support her in achieving this goal.

Sulochana acknowledges that the financial assistance she received from the government after her husband’s death during the COVID period provided some relief in her difficult times.

Her journey is not just a story of struggle, but one of courage, self-confidence, and uplifting others along the way. Sulochana Parihar has proven that no matter how challenging the circumstances, with strong determination, it is always possible to rebuild and transform one’s life.
