Varanasi: PM Modi Arrives at Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple; Batuks Welcome With Blowing of Conch Shells

On Wednesday—the second day of his visit to his parliamentary constituency, Kashi—Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham, having traveled there via a roadshow. At various points along the route, the residents of Kashi and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers accorded him a grand welcome, marked by the blowing of conch shells, the rhythmic beats of drums, and a shower of flowers.

Meanwhile, voting for the second phase of elections is currently underway in Bengal. Against this backdrop, the Prime Minister's visit to the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple for darshan (worship) is being viewed as particularly significant. At the Shri Vishwanath Dham, Prime Minister Modi was welcomed amidst the resounding echoes of damrus (hand drums) and the blowing of conch shells by young batuks (students of Vedic scriptures). 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi subsequently performed darshan and offered prayers at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple. Inside the temple, the Prime Minister also met with children and interacted with them.

BJP workers dance to the beats of drums

Earlier, during the Prime Minister's roadshow, BJP workers were seen dancing to the beats of drums. PM Modi was welcomed at numerous locations along the route, and flowers were showered upon his convoy. The Prime Minister, in turn, waved to the crowds in acknowledgment of their greetings.

The BJP had established five designated points along the route from Bareka to the Kashi Vishwanath Temple to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi. At these five locations, BJP workers welcomed him with the beats of drums, the blowing of conch shells, and a shower of rose petals. Ministers, elected representatives, 

BJP office-bearers, party workers, and the general public of Kashi were present at all five of these key points. These principal locations included Manduadih, the Police Lines, Lahurabir, Maidagin, Chowk, and the entrance to the Kashi Vishwanath Temple.

From Kashi, the Prime Minister has now departed for Hardoi. There, he is scheduled to inaugurate the Ganga Expressway. This 594-kilometer-long expressway will connect Meerut with Prayagraj.
