Major Change by EPFO: Access Funds from Years-Old PF Accounts; New 'E-PRAAPTI' Portal Ends the Hassle
If your PF funds are currently stuck in an old account—and you haven't been able to withdraw them for years—there is now some good news for you.
Portal is designed to assist in tracking dormant PF accounts
The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) is soon set to launch a new portal named 'E-PRAAPTI'. This portal is specifically designed to assist in tracking dormant and inoperative PF accounts. The new portal is being introduced to provide relief to the millions of employees who have lost access to their PF funds due to reasons such as changing jobs, lost records, or the absence of a Universal Account Number (UAN).
Users can locate their old PF accounts using Aadhaar-based authentication
While providing details regarding this initiative, Union Minister for Labour and Employment, Mansukh Mandaviya, announced the upcoming launch of the E-PRAAPTI portal. The full name of this portal is the 'Employee Provident Fund Aadhaar-Based Access Portal for Tracking Inoperative Accounts'.
Through this portal, users will be able to locate their old PF accounts using Aadhaar-based authentication. A key highlight of this process is that it will be of immense benefit to those individuals who do not possess a UAN—a situation that was common among employees who were employed prior to 2014.
