Six agreements in various fields between India and Sweden will give new energy and momentum to relations: PM Modi
Gothenburg (Sweden): Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that the agreements and announcements made between India and Sweden in six areas, including security, economy, technology, and innovation, will give new energy and momentum to India-Sweden relations.
PM Modi, who is on a visit to Sweden, held bilateral talks with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson late Sunday night, following which the two countries announced and signed agreements on cooperation in six areas.
In a post on social media on Monday, Modi expressed confidence that the India-Sweden partnership will make a meaningful contribution to building a more prosperous and forward-looking world.
He said, "These agreements will give new energy and momentum to India-Sweden relations. I am confident that the India-Sweden partnership will make a meaningful contribution to building a more prosperous and forward-looking world."
Under these agreements and declarations, the two countries have decided to elevate their relations to a strategic partnership. This will include strategic dialogue for stability and security. A next-generation economic partnership will be established between them, strengthening cooperation in the field of technology and people-to-people ties.
The two countries have also decided to launch the India-Sweden Joint Innovation Partnership 2.0.
India and Sweden will jointly develop a technology and artificial intelligence corridor.
They have agreed to double bilateral trade and investment over the next five years.
They also announced the development of the India-Sweden SME and Startup Platform to promote start-ups and innovation.
The two countries also decided to launch the Tagore-Sweden Lectures under the Vikas Bhi Virasat series.
The Prime Minister highlighted India's reform-oriented growth journey at the European Industry Roundtable, noting that it is creating new opportunities across various sectors, including infrastructure, innovation, and technology.
In a social media post, Modi stated, "Yesterday, I had the honor of addressing the European Industry Roundtable (ERT) in Gothenburg. My address covered the growing synergy between India and Europe, the opportunities set to open up through the India-EU Free Trade Agreement, India's reform-driven growth trajectory, and the vast potential for collaboration in the fields of technology, clean energy, infrastructure, mobility, and healthcare."
In another post, he added, "Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson and I met with Swedish industry leaders in Gothenburg yesterday evening. Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Victoria also participated in this interaction. We held comprehensive discussions on various aspects of further strengthening economic ties between India and Sweden—particularly in the domains of future technologies, R&D, Artificial Intelligence, security, and healthcare. I highlighted India's reform-oriented growth journey, emphasizing that it is generating new opportunities across numerous sectors, including infrastructure, innovation, and technology."
