Two female cheetahs released into open forest of Kuno; Madhya Pradesh is setting new benchmarks in wildlife conservation, says CM Mohan Yadav
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that the land of Madhya Pradesh has made cheetahs a part of its family by providing them a suitable environment and carrying out significant work of their reintroduction. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched Cheeta Project in Kuno nearly three-and-a-half years ago. Today, this cheetah reintroduction project in country is rapidly moving towards new dimensions with success.
CM said Madhya Pradesh is continuously creating new milestones in this important initiative. He said this while releasing two female cheetahs into open forest in Kuno National Park of Sheopur district.
Cheetah release near banks of Kuno river
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav released cheetahs CCV-2 and CCV-3 into open forest at cheetah release site located on banks of Kuno river.
CM said that Madhya Pradesh is emerging as a major centre of religion, investment and biodiversity. Reintroduction of cheetahs brought from Nigeria, South Africa and now Botswana is continuously achieving success, and today the state has earned identity across country as “Cheetah State”. At present, number of cheetahs is 57, out of which 54 are in Kuno National Park and 3 are in Gandhi Sagar Sanctuary.
On this occasion, New and Renewable Energy Minister Rakesh Shukla, Chairman of Madhya Pradesh Forest Development Corporation, Ramniwas Rawat, Chairperson of Sahariya Development Authority Smt. Guddi Bai Adivasi, Shri Shashank Bhushan, Raghavendra Jat, Sumit Singhal, Shubham Mudgal, Babu Singh Yadav, Kaushal Goyal and other public representatives were present.
PCCF Smt. Samita Rajoura, DIG Shri Sanjay Kumar Jain, Collector Ms. Sheela Dahima, Superintendent of Police Shri Sudhir Kumar Agrawal, DFO of Kuno Shri R. Thirukural, General Shri K.S. Randha, CEO of District Panchayat Smt. Soumya Anand, ADM Shri Rupesh Upadhyay, Additional SP Shri Praveen Bhuriya and other officials were also present at the venue.
