Ranchi: Jharkhand's first Mega Sports Complex will be constructed in Hazaribagh.
The state government is preparing to take a significant step toward promoting sporting talent. In connection with this ambitious project, Mukesh Kumar, Secretary of the Department of Art and Tourism, requested a proposal from the district administration during his visit to Hazaribagh recently, seeking recommendations on a suitable location to be developed as the Mega Sports Complex.
The proposed sports complex will provide state-of-the-art facilities for a variety of sports—including badminton, basketball, lawn tennis, swimming, and rifle shooting—all within a single campus. This will enable athletes to access modern resources and superior training facilities.
Two locations within the city identified
Municipal Corporation Mayor Arvind Rana stated that two locations within the city have been identified for this project. These include the Hazaribagh Stadium and the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Auditorium-cum-Indoor Stadium located at DVC Chowk. Plans are in place to develop facilities such as a skating rink, a yoga and meditation center, an open-air gym, a running track, and a multi-activity area at these sites.
Complex will also be equipped to host state and national-level competitions
Rana further informed that, under this project, training and talent development centers will also be established, where athletes will receive high-level coaching under the supervision of experienced trainers. The complex will also be equipped to host state and national-level competitions.
According to official sources, detailed planning is currently underway specifically regarding the Maulana Adul Kalam Azad Auditorium-cum-Indoor Stadium at DVC Chowk, and a comprehensive report on this matter is expected to be submitted to the government shortly.
