Bhopal: On Friday, the opening evening of 'Gayan Parv' at Bharat Bhavan transformed into a memorable celebration of Indian classical music, drawing a massive crowd of music enthusiasts. The three-day festival commenced with captivating performances by vocalist Swati Tiwari and Padma Shri Ashwini Bhide Deshpande, who immersed the audience in the timeless beauty of Hindustani classical music.

Swati Tiwari opened the concert with Raag Jhinjhoti, presenting a perfect blend of melody, emotion, and technical prowess. Her slow-tempo Bandish reflected the depth of the Raag, while her fast-paced composition showcased her commanding grasp of rhythm and intricate taans. 

She followed this with a lively Tappa in Raag Kafi and concluded with an energetic Tarana that drew thunderous applause from the audience. Tabla player Ramendra Solanki and harmonium player Lalit Sisodia further enhanced the performance with their sensitive and confident accompaniment.



Ashwini took the stage with the celebrated monsoon Raag

The evening reached its crescendo when Ashwini Bhide Deshpande took the stage with the celebrated monsoon Raag, 'Miyan Malhar'. Her unhurried Aalaap, devotional compositions, and nuanced improvisations beautifully captured the mood of the rainy season. As she concluded her performance with the immensely popular composition "Bol Re Papihara," the entire auditorium was filled with an atmosphere of joy and admiration.



She was ably supported by Yati Bhagwat on the tabla, Dnyaneshwar Sonawane on the harmonium, Swarangi Kale on the tanpura, and Purvi providing vocal support; their seasoned contributions added further depth to the performance. The first day of 'Gayan Parv' was far more than just a concert—it was an evening where tradition, art, and emotion converged, leaving the audience eagerly anticipating the festival's remaining performances.
