Commissioner sees Ujjain’s tourism village Bhanpur as MP's next major attraction, experiences rural hospitality
Ujjain: The natural beauty and rural charm of Bhanpura in MP’s Ujjain received a boost when Divisional Commissioner Ashish Singh visited the tourism village. He assessed the growing homestay network and tourism facilities there.
During the inspection, he interacted with homestay operators to take stock of the amenities provided to tourists—such as accommodation, food, cleanliness, safety measures, and other services. He also observed how local culture and traditions are being showcased through the homestay experience.
Emphasizing the immense tourism potential of Bhanpura, Singh stated that the village could become one of Madhya Pradesh's premier rural tourism destinations. He said that the homestay model would generate employment for local youth, strengthen the rural economy, and promote sustainable tourism. He urged operators to maintain high standards of hospitality while fully leveraging government schemes.
Singh stated that, given the natural beauty and significance of the tourism village of Bhanpura, it could be developed into one of the state's prominent tourist destinations. Homestays would provide employment opportunities for local youth and boost the rural economy.
The visit also highlighted the district's commitment to environmental conservation. Singh and Ujjain Development Authority Chairman Ravi Solanki planted Peepal and Mango saplings, emphasizing that tourism development must go hand-in-hand with nature conservation.
Reflecting true rural hospitality, the officials were welcomed with saplings and later enjoyed a traditional meal served on pattals (leaf plates) at the Padmavat Homestay. Collector Preeti Yadav, SP Dilip Kumar Soni, and other senior officials were also present during the inspection.
