How Bhopal's Sant Shiromani Ravidas Global Skills Park is Emerging as National Centre for Skill Development?
Bhopal: The Sant Shiromani Ravidas Global Skills Park in Bhopal has emerged as a national-level skill development centre, preparing industry-ready professionals to meet evolving workforce demands. Nearly 98 percent of students trained at the institute have secured placements, including 34 who have been placed in international organisations.
The institute is attracting trainees from 13 states across the country. It trained and certified 2,000 youth in 2025, while the figure is expected to rise to nearly 3,000 in 2026. Over the next two years, the institute aims to train and certify 6,000 youth annually. Equipped with modern technology, practical learning methods and strong industry partnerships, the institute has become an effective platform for employment-oriented skill development.
Industry-Focused Courses with Global Standards
Since 2024, the Global Skills Park has been offering nine advanced long-term courses in collaboration with Singapore's ITE Education Services. The one-year programmes cover disciplines such as mechatronics, robotics, CNC engineering and automobile technology, providing extensive hands-on training using modern equipment. The courses are designed to equip students with industry-relevant skills rather than merely awarding certificates.
Preferred Destination for Youth across India
Growing enrolment reflects the institute's rising reputation. Around 80 per cent of trainees come from ITI backgrounds, while the remaining 20 per cent are from polytechnic and engineering institutions. Nearly 10 per cent of students come from 13 different states.
In 2025, the institute admitted 1,000 students to long-term programmes and provided short-term certification to another 1,000 candidates. The total of 2,000 trainees highlights its expanding capacity. The number is projected to reach nearly 3,000 in 2026, with a target of 6,000 trainees annually within the next two years.
Growing Industry Confidence
Industry partnerships continue to strengthen the institute's standing. In 2025, companies including Reliance Industries, the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), JBM Group, SRF Limited and Trident Group conducted employee training at the institute. Trident Group also carried out technical assessments of its workforce at the campus.
These collaborations have generated additional revenue while strengthening ties between industry and the training ecosystem, demonstrating the institute's ability to deliver industry-aligned, high-quality training.
Greater Focus on Women's Participation
The institute is also working to increase women's participation in technical education. Female enrolment in long-term courses has risen by around four per cent compared with the previous year. The number is expected to increase further once the girls' hostel becomes fully operational.
The Global Skills Park also serves as the hub institute for 10 divisional ITIs across Madhya Pradesh, providing training, on-the-job learning and placement support for students and instructors, thereby strengthening the quality of skill development across the state.
Recognition at National and International Levels
The institute's model has attracted attention from across India and abroad. Delegations from Rajasthan, Gujarat, Meghalaya, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Assam have visited the campus to study its management practices and training programmes.
Representatives from Ethiopia, the Philippines and South Korea have also toured the institute. Officials from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and the National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET) have reviewed its training systems, reflecting its growing credibility and quality.
Expansion Plans
The Global Skills Park plans to increase its annual training and certification capacity to 6,000 in the coming years. It will establish new collaborations with Bajaj Auto and The Welding Institute, expand skill upgradation programmes for industrial workers and further encourage women's participation.
The capacity of the existing 600-seat boys' hostel will be expanded to 1,800 seats. Upcoming initiatives include technical teacher training with NCERT, Japanese language training and international placement support in collaboration with the Backward Classes Welfare Department, an MSME-supported incubation centre, an Artificial Intelligence Lab with MPSEDC, an NSDC Skill Centre, a Pre-Departure Orientation Training (PDOT) Centre for overseas employment aspirants, and NCVET recognition for all nine long-term courses.
