Launch of First UIDAI-Operated Aadhaar Seva Kendra in Gwalior Boosts Aadhaar Services; 3rd Such Centre in MP after Bhopal, Indore
Gwalior: The opening of the first UIDAI-operated Aadhaar Seva Kendra (ASK) in the city has made access to Aadhaar-related services easier for the citizens of Gwalior. Established by the Delhi Regional Office of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), this modern facility was inaugurated by District Collector Ruchika Chauhan; she also updated her own Aadhaar details at the center. Sumit Mishra, Director of the UIDAI State Office, Bhopal, also attended the inauguration ceremony.
Until now, there were only two UIDAI-operated Aadhaar Seva Kendras in Madhya Pradesh—located in Bhopal and Indore—which attracted people from across the state due to their reliable and efficient services. Encouraged by this positive response, the Government of India has begun expanding the network of dedicated Aadhaar centers to more districts, and Gwalior is among the first to benefit from this initiative.
Speaking on the occasion, Collector Mrs Chauhan remarked that Aadhaar has become an essential identity document for every citizen. Whether it involves updating biometrics, changing mobile numbers, correcting personal details, or enrolling young children before the new academic session, Aadhaar-related services are required at various stages of life. She stated that the new center would make these services more convenient, faster, and hassle-free for the people of Gwalior.
The Aadhaar Seva Kendra is equipped with modern facilities and will remain open seven days a week, making it particularly convenient for working professionals and businesspeople. Separate counters have been set up for senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and pregnant women. An online appointment system will also help citizens avoid long queues and save time.
Addressing the gathering, Mishra stated that UIDAI plans to open similar centers in another 24 districts over the next three months. He noted that this expansion would ensure citizens can avail themselves of Aadhaar services close to their homes, thereby reducing travel, saving time, and improving service delivery across the state.
