Shri Khedapati Hanuman Lok Corridor to Become Bhopal's New Cultural Landmark; A Grand Abode of Faith Taking Shape at a Cost of Rs 100 Crore
Bhopal: Minister for Cooperatives Vishwas Kailash Sarang inspected the construction work of the 'Shri Khedapati Hanuman Lok Corridor'—being developed at a cost of approximately Rs 100 crore within the premises of the ancient and renowned Shri Khedapati Hanuman Temple in the Chhola area of the capital, Bhopal.
Accompanied by Municipal Corporation and other concerned officials, he reviewed the progress of the construction and directed that the project be completed within the stipulated timeframe while maintaining high quality.
Minister Sarang emphasized to the officials that the primary objective of the corridor's construction is to provide devotees with a more convenient, safe, and organized system for darshan. He instructed that the area surrounding the temple complex be expanded while fully preserving the original structure and religious character of the old sanctum sanctorum, thereby safeguarding the temple's historical and spiritual identity.
Sarang directed the construction agencies to prepare well-structured drawings and a phased action plan for all stages of the project to ensure systematic completion within the deadline. He also strictly instructed that there be no compromise on the quality of construction.
Special Emphasis on Devotee Convenience and Minimal Displacement
Sarang stated that special care must be taken to ensure that devotees, local residents, and traders do not face any unnecessary inconvenience during the construction work. He directed officials to ensure minimal displacement during the project's execution and to make timely arrangements to maintain smooth traffic flow.
Grand 'Hanuman Lok' to be Developed in the Nagara Architectural Style
The Minister informed that the corridor, spanning approximately 21 acres, is being constructed using white marble from Rajasthan and follows the ancient Nagara style of architecture. A grand corridor depicting scenes from the *Sundarkand* will be developed within the temple complex, offering devotees a profound spiritual and cultural experience. The complex will be equipped with modern amenities.
Under the project, facilities such as a seamless darshan (viewing) system for devotees, a grand corridor, a viewing gallery, infrastructure for public events, modern parking, wide roads, and other essential civic amenities are being developed. Additionally, while preserving the open character of the Dussehra Ground, modern facilities for public events are also being developed there.
'Hanuman Lok' to become Bhopal's new cultural identity
Minister Vishwas Sarang stated that the Shri Khedapati Hanuman Lok Corridor is not merely a construction project but a confluence of faith, culture, and modern development. By realizing the vision of "Heritage as well as Development," this project will elevate Bhopal's cultural and religious identity to new heights and emerge as a major hub for religious tourism in the future. He expressed confidence that upon completion, the Shri Khedapati Hanuman Lok Corridor would establish itself as a new identity for the capital city, Bhopal.
