Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has tendered his resignation. For nearly a month, Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has been staging protests against him at Delhi's Jantar Mantar.
Protests demanding Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation had been taking place across the country over the NEET paper leak issue.
Dharmendra Pradhan announced on the social media platform X that he has sent his resignation to the Prime Minister, although it is yet to be formally accepted.
What Dharmendra Pradhan said
Pradhan wrote on X, "Considering the situation that has arisen at Jantar Mantar and across the country—with the aim of preventing anti-national forces from exploiting this situation, maintaining national unity, ensuring that not a single Indian student's future gets entangled in legal complexities, and allowing our children to devote their time to studies and focus on building their careers—I have sent my resignation to the Honorable Prime Minister."
Pradhan wrote, "For over four decades, I have been dedicated to students, teachers, and education reform. It has always been my belief that a strong, inclusive, and visionary education system forms the cornerstone of a strong nation."
"I deeply respect the aspirations, sentiments, and legitimate expectations of the country's youth. Realizing the dreams of India's young generation has been a moral commitment in all our political and social lives. I express my gratitude to the Honorable Prime Minister for the opportunity to serve the nation under his visionary leadership."
Regarding the NEET paper leak issue, Dharmendra Pradhan said, "From day one, I took responsibility for this and never turned away from the situation. It was my resolve that we would not allow the prospects of any meritorious student to be ruined by the 'exam mafia,' nor would we allow any injustice to befall any student."
"However, during this period, individuals holding responsible positions attempted to create obstacles and mislead many students, which caused me deep distress."
He wrote, "Considering the situation that has arisen at Jantar Mantar and across the country—with the aim of ensuring that anti-national forces do not exploit this situation, that national unity remains intact, that the future of not a single Indian student gets entangled in legal complexities, and that our children devote their time to studies and focus on building their careers—I have submitted my resignation to the Honorable Prime Minister."
No need to be afraid in a democracy: Dipke
Abhijeet Dipke, founder of the 'Cockroach Janata Party', said, "We have made it happen. Dharmendra Pradhan has resigned."
Abhijeet Dipke stated, "Dharmendra Pradhan has resigned. This proves that if you do not fear and do not bow down before this government, you can make anyone resign. There is no need to be afraid in a democracy."
Prior to this, various opposition parties, including the Congress, had also been adamant in their demand for his resignation.
