Shailendra Singh faced a challenging situation
Shailendra Pratap Singh, a Secondary teacher posted at the Government Middle School (Purv Madhyamik Shala) in Kanjwar, Sidhi district, also features in the list for the National Teachers' Award 2026. His selection demonstrates that the talent of teachers performing excellent work—even in remote government schools—is now gaining national recognition.
When Shailendra Singh assumed the role of a teacher at the Government Primary School in Agariyan Tola Kanjwar on October 22, 2011, he faced a challenging situation. At that time, only 11 children were enrolled, with merely three attending regularly. He prioritized both the development of the school and fostering the children's interest in education.
Thanks to his efforts, the dilapidated building was renovated, and the school's appearance gradually began to transform. His persistent hard work paid off, leading to an increase in the student population to 202. Shailendra Singh also regards his father as a source of inspiration in his role as a teacher.
Sunita Yadav from Chhattisgarh to be Honored
In addition to Madhya Pradesh, Sunita Yadav, a government teacher from the neighboring state of Chhattisgarh, has also been selected for the National Teachers' Award 2026. She teaches at the MS Khichari Government School.
