Bhopal: World’s largest Narela Rakshabandhan Mahotsav begins; thousands of Gen z sisters also tie Rakhi to minister Sarang
Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Vishwas Kailash Sarang on Monday inaugurated the world’s largest Narela Rakshabandhan Mahotsav at Ward No. 44, Subhash Nagar Sports Ground. On the first day, during Rakshabandhan Mahotsav organised in Wards No. 44, 78 and 69, as many as 22,432 sisters tied Raksha Sutras on wrist of Vishwas and blessed him.
At a programme organised in Ward No. 44, thousands of sisters representing Gen Z, the young generation, also tied Rakhi to Minister Vishwas Sarang. Minister Sarang arranged Sawan songs, Mehendi, food, gifts and other facilities for sisters at the programme.
Addressing sisters, Sarang said he was very fortunate that every year lakhs of sisters tie Raksha Sutras to him.
Narela Assembly is My Narela Family
Addressing sisters at Narela Rakshabandhan Mahotsav, Sarang said he had never viewed Narela area from a political perspective, but had always considered it his family.
Thousands of Sisters Tie Rakhi to Minister Sarang
On first day of Narela Rakshabandhan Mahotsav, thousands of sisters reached Wards No. 44, 78 and 69 of Narela Assembly to tie Rakhi. Elderly sisters also tied Raksha Sutras and placed their hands on Minister Sarang’s head to bless him.
Previous Year’s Record Expected to Be Broken Again
Narela Rakshabandhan Mahotsav has been organised in Narela Assembly on every Rakshabandhan for the past 18 years. Last year, around 1 lakh 84 thousand 632 sisters tied Raksha Sutras to Sarang. This year too, it is expected that previous year’s record will be broken.
Large Number of Gen Z Sisters Tie Rakhi
On first day of the Narela Rakshabandhan Mahotsav, a large number of sisters representing Gen Z, the young generation, tied Rakhi to Minister Vishwas Sarang at the programme organised in Ward No. 44. On this occasion, Minister Sarang said youth of country are playing their role in nation-building with positive thinking and new energy.
Prayers Offered at Shri Khedapati Hanuman Temple
Before inauguration of Narela Rakshabandhan Mahotsav-2026, Minister Vishwas Sarang visited ancient Shri Khedapati Hanuman Temple in Chhola and offered prayers and sought blessings for successful organisation of the event.
Rakshabandhan Mahotsav in Wards 39, 40 and 75 on September 1
Programmes will be organised on September 1, 2026, in Wards No. 39 and 40 at 2 pm and in Ward No. 75 at 4 pm. Thousands of sisters will also tie Raksha Sutras to Minister Vishwas Sarang and bless him at these programmes.
