Big Boost to Air Connectivity, Air Travel Set to Get Easier in Madhya Pradesh: CM Mohan Yadav to Launch Four New Air Services
Madhya Pradesh CM Dr. Mohan Yadav will inaugurate four new direct air services from Raja Bhoj Airport, Bhopal, on Sunday, August 9. The new routes will connect Bhopal–Rewa, Bhopal–Patna, Rewa–Kolkata and Jabalpur–Kolkata.
CM Dr. Yadav will flag off the first flight from Bhopal to Rewa. The launch of these services will further strengthen intra-state and inter-state air connectivity in Madhya Pradesh. The new services will be operated by Alliance Air. All these domestic air routes are being provided financial support under the Madhya Pradesh Civil Aviation Policy. The State Government will provide Viability Gap Funding (VGF) of up to Rs 10 lakh per round trip.
The State Government is continuously prioritising the expansion of air connectivity. Through the Madhya Pradesh Civil Aviation Policy-2025, efforts are being made to connect cities across the State with major destinations in the country and provide citizens with convenient, safe and timely travel facilities.
So far, eight new air routes have been approved under the policy. Air services have already commenced on four of these routes, while services on four new routes are now being launched. The routes introduced earlier under the policy include Rewa–Delhi, Rewa–Indore, Rewa–Raipur and Indore–Abu Dhabi.
Air Connectivity to Expand Within State and with Other States
The direct Bhopal–Rewa air service will strengthen air connectivity within Madhya Pradesh and further enhance direct connectivity between the State capital and the Vindhya region.
Similarly, the direct Bhopal–Patna flight will connect the capital cities of Madhya Pradesh and Bihar, making travel between the two states more convenient. It will benefit the large Bihar-origin population residing in Madhya Pradesh as well as passengers, traders and businesspersons.
The launch of direct flights between Rewa–Kolkata and Jabalpur–Kolkata will strengthen air connectivity of these two important cities of Madhya Pradesh with Kolkata and eastern India.
Air Connectivity to Save Travel Time and Accelerate Development
The new direct air services will enable citizens to reach their destinations in less time compared to long-distance journeys by other modes of transport. Expansion of air connectivity will not only facilitate passenger movement but also strengthen links between different cities.
The expansion of these services will boost tourism, trade, education and economic activities in the State while providing citizens with better and more convenient travel facilities.
Union Minister for Civil Aviation Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla and other distinguished guests will attend the programme.
