Champions will emerge from Bhopal's lakes; Minister Vishwas Sarang opens third edition of Raja Bhoj Multiclass National Sailing Championship at Bhopal’s Upper Lake
Bhopal: Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Vishwas Kailash Sarang inaugurated the third edition of the Raja Bhoj Multiclass National Sailing Championship (Ranking) at the Boat Club in Bhopal on Tuesday. More than 100 national and international-level sailors from various states across the country are participating in this prestigious national competition, which runs until Sunday, August 16.
The players' national rankings will be determined based on their performance in the event, playing a crucial role in their future prospects of representing India in international competitions.
Sarang stated that Bhopal's lakes are no longer merely centers for tourism and natural beauty; they are evolving into grounds for nurturing the country's future champions. The Raja Bhoj Multiclass National Sailing Championship offers a significant platform for athletes to showcase their talent and advance at both national and international levels.
Minister Sarang remarked that every race in the championship is not just a contest for medals but a pivotal opportunity that shapes the trajectory of the athletes' national and international sporting careers. The national rankings determined by this event will pave the way for athletes to represent India in future international competitions.
Bhopal Emerging as a Major Water Sports Hub
Sarang noted that Bhopal's 'Bada Talab' (Upper Lake) and its natural conditions are highly favorable for sports such as sailing, rowing, kayaking, and canoeing. The Madhya Pradesh State Water Sports Academy was established in 2007 and currently ranks among the country's premier water sports training institutions. Minister Shri Sarang mentioned that the academy offers facilities for sailing, rowing, kayaking, canoeing, and slalom. Athletes trained here have brought laurels to both Madhya Pradesh and the nation at national and international levels.
India's Future Champions to Emerge from Bhopal's Lakes
Welcoming athletes from across the country, Minister Sarang urged them to compete with full vigor for victories and medals while also keeping the dream of playing for India at the forefront of their minds. Minister Shri Sarang remarked, "It is not merely boats sailing on these lakes of Bhopal; India's future champions are here, giving momentum to their dreams.
