Guna: Taking a significant step towards promoting sustainable industry and environmental conservation, Guna Collector Kishore Kumar Kanyal has appealed to citizens to switch from single-use plastic to biodegradable products made from corn starch. During a visit to GK Industries in Kushmoda recently, the Collector closely inspected the entire process of manufacturing biodegradable carry bags and emphasized the vital need for such industries to ensure a clean and green future.
In this process, raw corn is processed to extract starch, which is then turned into biopolymers that form durable, 100% compostable shopping and carry bags that safely break down in soil.

The eco-friendly bags produced at this unit naturally decompose within approximately 180 days, making them a safe and practical alternative to conventional plastic. During the inspection, Kanyal reviewed every stage of production, including raw material processing, mixing, cutting, printing, and packaging. He also inquired about the machinery, production capacity, market demand, marketing strategies, investment, and local employment. He was particularly impressed by the industry's system for recycling leftover material from the production process.

Describing the unit as a model of sustainable industrial development, the Collector noted that production has increased significantly in recent months, with its products now reaching the Indore Municipal Corporation area. He expressed pride in the fact that an entrepreneur from Guna is generating employment for local residents while simultaneously protecting the environment.
The Collector commended the effective utilization of MSME schemes and government subsidies, as well as the industry's solar power plant, which facilitates energy-efficient production. Operating in three shifts, the unit provides regular employment to local youth.

Reiterating the administration's commitment to green entrepreneurship, Kanyal assured full support to industries that promote environmental conservation and job creation. He urged residents to completely shun single-use plastics and adopt biodegradable products, emphasizing that public participation is essential to building a clean, healthy, and more sustainable future for Guna.
