Another 5,222 people visited the sanctuary on August 16. So far, 23,767 tourists have visited the 234-hectare sanctuary—located a short distance from Indore—during the three weekends of August.

On regular days, the sanctuary receives an average of about 500 visitors daily, but this number multiplies significantly during holidays and weekends.  A total of 23,767 tourists arrived over the six days spanning three recent weekends.

Nature, adventure and easy access draw visitors

Recent rains have enhanced the greenery across the sanctuary's hills and forests. Families are visiting with their children to enjoy the pleasant weather, while young people are trekking and taking in the natural scenery with friends. Many youths are also capturing photos and videos amidst the lush greenery and hilly terrain. A paved road connects the main entrance to the Shikargah hill; Gypsy rides are available to reach Shikargah, and battery-operated cars are provided for access to the Deer Park.

These facilities have made it easier for children and the elderly to explore the sanctuary. The surge in tourist numbers over these three weekends has also boosted the department's revenue, with the Forest Department earning over Rs 10 lakh during this period.

August 15 was a particularly notable day, generating approximately Rs 2.25 lakh in revenue from the 4,235 visitors. Ralamandal Sanctuary Superintendent Subhash Sharma told that the increase in greenery following the rains has led to a rise in tourist footfall. With the rains expected to continue, the sanctuary is likely to remain a favourite destination for nature enthusiasts in the weeks ahead.
