Indore GPO goes digital for Raksha Bandhan; a 24-hour self-booking kiosk, special Rakhi services, discounts, and gift boxes promise speedy festive service
Indore: Ahead of Raksha Bandhan, the Department of Posts has launched a 24-hour self-booking kiosk at the Indore GPO, offering customers modern and speedy services. Gaurav Srivastava, Postmaster General of the Indore Region, inaugurated the kiosk. Through this facility, customers can book Speed Post and parcels themselves without waiting in queues. Features such as QR code payments and booking notifications via SMS will also be available.
A special 'Rakhi Speed Post' counter has been set up at the GPO for the festival. Special letterboxes have also been installed for destinations including Bhopal, Jabalpur, Ratlam, Neemuch, Mandsaur, Khandwa, and Khargone, as well as for Army APOs (56 APO and 99 APO), to ensure Rakhis reach their destinations on time.
The Department of Posts is offering a 10% discount on the booking of Speed Post articles containing Rakhis. A special campaign has also been launched to ensure the timely delivery of Rakhis within the country and abroad. Dedicated marketing executives have been appointed in every postal division of the Indore region to facilitate the quick resolution of complaints. Customers can register their complaints via WhatsApp or email until September 5.
Special Rakhi gift box
Starting August 10, the Department of Posts will also offer a special Rakhi gift box priced at Rs 121. It will contain a traditional Rakhi, kumkum (vermilion), akshat (sacred rice grains), and two coconut cookies. The price includes the Speed Post delivery charge to any location within the country. Additionally, facilities will be available to send Rakhis and parcels abroad via ITPS, Air Parcel, and International Speed Post services.
'Tiranga Rally' will be held from Aug 10 to 13
Speaking at the event, Postmaster General Gaurav Srivastava stated that the Indore region has recorded significant growth in postal services during the current financial year. It was announced that a 'Tiranga Rally' would be held from August 10 to 13 as part of the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign, and a 'Tiranga March' would be organized from the Indore GPO on August 11. Additionally, during the holy month of Shravan, Gangajal is being made available at selected post offices and prominent Shiva temples in 250 ml packs for ₹30.
