Madhya Pradesh Athletes Shine at Glasgow Commonwealth Games-2026; Yamini Maurya and Ajay Babu Win Silver
Amidst the stellar performance of Indian athletes at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games-2026, players from Madhya Pradesh have also proven their mettle and brought glory to the state.
Yamini Maurya from Sagar (in Judo) and Ajay Babu (in Weightlifting) delivered outstanding performances to secure silver medals. Madhya Pradesh's Minister for Sports and Youth Welfare, Vishwas Sarang, expressed his delight at this achievement and extended his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to both athletes.
Sarang stated that Indian athletes are consistently bringing pride to the nation through their excellent performances on the international stage. He said that Yamini Maurya secured the silver medal in the 57kg Judo category by demonstrating great fighting spirit and technical skill, while Ajay Babu brought honor to the state and the country with his excellent performance in weightlifting.
Sarang remarked that this success would serve as an inspiration for the state's emerging athletes and instill in them the confidence to excel on major platforms.

Minister Sarang congratulated Yamini Maurya—who brought glory to Madhya Pradesh by winning a silver medal in the Judo event at the Commonwealth Games—via a video call, offering his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes for her magnificent achievement. Sarang stated that Yamini Maurya's success is a matter of pride for both Madhya Pradesh and the nation. Wishing her a bright future, he expressed confidence that she would go on to win gold medals in upcoming international competitions.
Recognition and Incentives Under the Sports Policy
Sarang announced that, in accordance with the Madhya Pradesh government's sports policy, Yamini Maurya and Ajay Babu would each be awarded an incentive of Rs 25 lakh for winning silver medals at the Commonwealth Games. Additionally, in accordance with the provisions of the sports policy, both athletes will be provided with government jobs.
