Madhya Pradesh: Cultural heritage of six nations showcased at BRICS Cultural Festival 2026 in Bhopal: Traditional music, dance, and folk arts hold audience spellbound

Under India’s BRICS Presidency 2026, the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, organized the BRICS Cultural Festival 2026 at Ravindra Bhavan, Bhopal, on Thursday. Held on the second day of the third meeting of the BRICS Cultural Working Group, the festival featured artists from BRICS member and participating nations who showcased the rich cultural heritage of their respective countries through traditional performances, thereby strengthening the spirit of cultural exchange and mutual cooperation.

The festival was organized based on the ethos of "Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah" (May all be happy), reflecting India’s civilizational philosophy of universal peace, harmony, and collective well-being. The event marked a significant initiative towards fostering cultural exchange and strengthening people-to-people ties among nations, aligning with the theme of India’s BRICS Presidency 2026: "Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation, and Continuity."

Cultural parade featured participating nations

The program commenced with a cultural parade featuring participating nations. Cultural delegations from Belarus, Brazil, Indonesia, the Russian Federation, the United Arab Emirates, and the host nation, India, participated, showcasing global unity and cultural harmony.

Artists from the Gennady Tsitovich National Academic Folk Choir of the Republic of Belarus presented traditional Belarusian folk songs and humorous folk dances.

Brazil showcased 'Capoeira,' an Afro-Brazilian cultural tradition, featuring a unique blend of martial arts, dance, music, and acrobatics. Artists from Indonesia performed 'Pushpanjali,' a traditional Balinese welcome dance. Additionally, they staged "The Legend of Roro Jonggrang," a famous Javanese dance-drama inspired by the Prambanan Temple. 

Soloists from the National Academic Folk Instruments Orchestra of Russia performed on traditional Russian instruments such as the balalaika, bayan, alto domra, and contrabass balalaika. Renowned Emirati musician Saif Al-Ali presented Emirati and Arab musical traditions infused with contemporary influences. 

India presented a program titled "Maru Rang – Heritage of Rajasthan," showcasing the state's rich folk culture and heritage through folk dances such as Ghoomar, Chari, Kalbelia, and Bhavai.

The event concluded with a grand finale where artists from all participating nations came together on stage to convey a message of cultural unity, mutual respect, and global harmony. The occasion also highlighted the BRICS nations' commitment to strengthening international cooperation through art and culture and fostering deeper bonds among the people of different countries.
