Congress MP Rahul Gandhi sat on a protest outside the Sansad Marg police station on Friday alongside Sahil, a student injured during a demonstration at Jantar Mantar. He demanded that an FIR be registered regarding the victim's injury caused by a pellet gun.

Rahul Gandhi stated that he would not leave the protest site until the FIR was registered. He alleged that the police had received instructions from higher authorities not to register the FIR. During the protest, he also showed the media pellets that had been extracted from the student's body. Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi was also present with him.

During the sit-in, Congress leaders raised slogans outside the Sansad Marg police station. In view of the situation, security at the police station was stepped up, and the Rapid Action Force (RAF) was deployed within the premises.

Rahul Gandhi stated that Sahil was injured by a pellet gun during a student protest on July 20. According to him, a written complaint was submitted to the Delhi Police on August 14, but no acknowledgment of receipt was provided.

Subsequently, action was sought via email and phone on August 17, yet no steps were taken. On Friday, Rahul Gandhi accompanied Sahil to the DCP's office and reiterated the demand for an FIR to be registered.

Crime Branch is already investigating all cases: Police

Meanwhile, Delhi Police sources indicated that the complaint was submitted by the victim himself. The police stated that the Crime Branch is already investigating all cases related to the events of July 20, and Sahil's complaint would also be forwarded to the Crime Branch for investigation. According to the police, New Delhi DCP Sachin Sharma is in contact with Rahul Gandhi regarding this matter.

Earlier, Rahul Gandhi had alleged in Parliament that the use of bullets and pellet guns during student protests in Delhi had been authorized by the Home Minister. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju termed the allegation serious and baseless, demanding an apology from Rahul Gandhi.

During his speech in Parliament, Rahul Gandhi also mentioned that he had spoken to several students, including an 18-year-old student named Lovely. Citing this conversation, he referred to terms such as 'idiot' and 'andhbhakt'. The ruling party objected to these words, following which Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla directed that they be expunged from the proceedings of the House.
