Timely support from Sagar Collector Pratibha Pal turns a young cricketer's dream into reality
Sagar: Sometimes, all it takes to change a young person's life is someone who believes in their dream.
Shikha Shilpi, an 8th-grade student from Sagar, is passionate about cricket, and her spirit is far greater than the difficult circumstances she faced.
The daughter of a daily-wage laborer, Shikha wanted to play cricket but lacked one essential item—a cricket kit. Purchasing such gear was beyond her family's means.
Instead of giving up, Shikha wrote an application and visited the Collector's office, hoping someone would listen.
Collector Smt. Pratibha Pal listened.
After reading the girl's application, she immediately instructed the Secretary of the Indian Red Cross Society to provide Shikha with a complete cricket kit through the organization.
The help arrived without delay.
When the Collector personally handed the cricket kit to Shikha, her face lit up with joy. Along with the kit, she received words of encouragement she would cherish for years: "Study diligently and play to your heart's content."
For Shikha, this was more than just sports equipment—it represented self-confidence, an identity, and a renewed belief that her dreams mattered.
Now, with a bat in hand and firm resolve in her heart, she is ready for every run and every opportunity—and perhaps, one day, she will wear the Indian jersey she dreams of.
