From epic screen hero to facing jail: Woman accuses Mahabharat's Saurav Gurjar of harassment
Hyderabad Police have taken actor and WWE wrestler Saurav Gurjar—known for playing the role of Bhima in the Mahabharat series—into custody following allegations of harassment and deceiving a woman with the promise of marriage.
Saurav Gurjar began his acting career in 2013 with the Star Plus show Mahabharat, portraying the character of Bhima. The show aired from 2013 to 2014.
Subsequently, between 2016 and 2017, he appeared as Ravana and Bali in the series Sankatmochan Mahabali Hanuman.
He made his Bollywood debut in 2022 with the film Brahmastra. After a three-year hiatus, he returned to television in February 2025 with the Colors TV show Shiv Shakti – Tap Tyag Tandav, playing the character of Swarth.
Remanded to 14 day custody
Police apprehended him at Mumbai Airport, brought him to Hyderabad, and—following legal formalities—remanded him to 14 days of judicial custody. A woman has accused Saurav of entering into a live-in relationship with her under the pretext of marriage and causing her to quit her job in the United States.
Whenever the woman brought up the topic of marriage, Saurav would block her number and distance himself.
Met in person for the first time on December 25, 2021
According to the complaint filed by the 29-year-old woman, she met Saurav Gurjar via Instagram in 2021. They began communicating on WhatsApp, and their relationship grew closer.
The woman stated that they met in person for the first time on December 25, 2021. During this time, Saurav assured her that he would marry her and give her the status of a wife. They subsequently lived together in the United States and continued to live together after returning to India.
Quit her job in the United States at Saurav's behest
The woman claims that she quit her job in the United States at Saurav's behest. Saurav had promised her that they would start a new business together. The woman alleges that she was unable to focus on her career due to constant mental harassment. Whenever she raised the topic of marriage, Sourav would block her number and distance himself from her.
Lived together in Hyderabad, then suddenly disappeared
The victim informed the police that Saurav lived with her from October 2025 to March 2026; the two were residing together in Hyderabad.
Meanwhile, Saurav suddenly disappeared without any notice. Subsequently, the victim lodged a police complaint. Following the registration of the case, the Gachibowli police initiated an investigation and took Saurav Gurjar into custody at Mumbai Airport.
