How Rail Connectivity in South Chhattisgarh is Getting a Major Boost? How it will Benefit People?
Indian Railways has taken a major step towards improving connectivity in South Chhattisgarh by completing the final leg of the Dalli-Rajhara–Rowghat new railway line project. The 17.5-kilometer-long Taroki–Rowghat section—an electrified, single-line broad-gauge route—has now undergone inspection and speed trials by the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS).
CRS inspection is a mandatory step before opening any new railway section for regular operations. During the inspection, officials examined the track, bridges, culverts, electrical infrastructure, signaling systems, and other safety arrangements. The section's operational capacity and safety standards were also verified through established procedures.
The Taroki–Rowghat section is part of the 95-kilometer-long Dalli-Rajhara–Rowghat project, located in a remote area of South Chhattisgarh. Currently, passenger train services are available from Dalli-Rajhara to Taroki. Once operations commence on the new section, residents of the surrounding areas are expected to benefit from improved and more convenient rail connectivity.
This project will also facilitate the transport of iron ore to the Bhilai Steel Plant, thereby benefiting the steel industry. Additionally, it will aid in the transportation of agricultural produce and local commercial goods.
Improved rail connectivity is expected to make access to Raipur and Bhilai easier, fostering opportunities in education, healthcare, employment, and trade. It could also boost tourism, investment, and other economic activities, contributing to the region's overall socio-economic development.
