Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav have congratulated the Women’s Cricket Team on winning the Gold medal at the Asian Games-2026, calling it a splendid triumph for Indian cricket.
PM Modi stated that it was a commanding performance at the Games, marked by confidence, skill, and wonderful teamwork. He noted that this victory also brings India its first Gold of this edition of the Games. He added that the team has made the nation proud and will inspire countless young cricketers across the country, while extending his best wishes to the entire squad.

Glory of the Tricolour enhanced on the global stage: CM

The Indian women's cricket team has won the gold medal at the Asian Games for the second consecutive time. The team defeated Sri Lanka by 147 runs in the final on Tuesday. India had also won the gold medal at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games.
After winning the toss and electing to bat first, India scored 216 runs for the loss of 3 wickets. This marks the highest score ever recorded by the Indian women's team at the Asian Games. Chasing a target of 217 runs, the Sri Lankan team was bowled out for 69 runs in 15.4 overs.
In the match for third place, Pakistan defeated Bangladesh to win the bronze medal.
