Satyendra Singh Lohiya Crosses English Channel for 3rd Time; CM Mohan Yadav Congratulates on Historic Feat
Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh CM Dr. Mohan Yadav congratulated international para-swimmer and Padma Shri awardee Satyendra Singh Lohiya and his team for successfully crossing the 36-kilometer-long English Channel—from Dover (UK) to France—for the third time.
CM Mohan Yadav stated that the Indian para-swimmers have brought honor to Madhya Pradesh and the nation by completing this arduous swim in 21 hours and 20 minutes while carrying the Tricolour. He remarked that their determination and achievement would inspire the youth across India.
Lohiya, a native of Gata village in Bhind district, began his journey from Dover at 8:58 AM on September 24 and reached France at 6:18 AM on September 25. He accomplished this challenging feat despite cold waters, strong currents, and difficult conditions.
Lohiya had previously crossed the English Channel in 2018, completing the challenge in approximately 12 hours and 26 minutes. Subsequently, he participated in several major open-water swimming expeditions, including challenges in the Catalina Channel and the North Channel. With this latest achievement, he has become the first Indian swimmer to cross the English Channel three times.
