Talented players from the Madhya Pradesh State Women's Hockey Academy, Khaidem Shilima Chanu and Krishna Sharma, have brought pride to the state with their outstanding performances on the international stage. 


Both players represented the Indian junior women's hockey team at the AHF Women's Junior Asia Cup 2026 held in China. The Indian team delivered a magnificent performance to clinch the title, becoming Asian champions for the third consecutive time. Meanwhile, the Indian junior men's team also won the Men's Junior Asia Cup 2026 title by defeating South Korea 4-1 in the final.


Shilima Chanu Captains the Indian Team


A special highlight of this historic achievement for Madhya Pradesh was that Khaidem Shilima Chanu captained the Indian junior women's hockey team. Leading the team from the midfield, she played a pivotal role in ensuring India's strong presence throughout the tournament.


Under Shilima's captaincy, the Indian team delivered a disciplined and effective performance throughout the tournament, ultimately defeating the hosts in the final to claim the title.


Krishna Sharma Contributes to the Team's Victory with a Goal


Krishna Sharma, also from the Madhya Pradesh State Women's Hockey Academy, impressed everyone with her performance during the tournament. In India's spectacular 7-0 victory over Japan, Krishna Sharma gave the team an early lead by scoring in the fifth minute. Subsequently, in the quarter-final match against Pakistan, she contributed to the team's impressive performance by scoring a field goal in the 48th minute.


Her performance demonstrated the strong presence of hockey talent from Madhya Pradesh on the international stage.
