Gwalior: Since Dussehra, the number of air passengers at Gwalior’s Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Terminal has risen by 20–25%, with a notable surge in advance bookings ahead of Diwali. Airport management has implemented special measures to manage the expected influx and ensure better connectivity, comfort, and security for passengers.

Airport Director Lokesh Kumar Yadav stated that, in response to growing demand, flights between Gwalior and Mumbai—previously operating four days a week—are now available daily. Additionally, Akasa Air’s direct service to Delhi has been increased from two to three days a week (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays).

Flight QP1809 departs from Delhi at 9:45 AM and arrives in Gwalior at 11:15 AM. The return flight, QP1810, departs from Gwalior at 11:50 AM and reaches Delhi at 1:20 PM.

Improved Connectivity to Major Cities

Passengers traveling to Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Mumbai can utilize connecting flights via Delhi. This updated schedule will make onward travel significantly more convenient.

The airport has also made special provisions for elderly passengers, including escort services, dedicated seating areas, and rest facilities. Food and beverage services will be available, and the airport has been adorned with special lighting and decorations to mark the Diwali season.

Strengthened Security Measures

Airport authorities and airlines are taking necessary steps to manage the increased volume of passengers. Mr. Yadav has urged travelers to strictly adhere to security protocols and ensure that no prohibited items—such as firecrackers—are packed in their luggage. Airport management expects that better flight availability and enhanced passenger amenities will make travel to and from Gwalior even easier during the festive season.
