How Bacha Village in Betul Will Become MP's First Astro-Village
Betul: Bacha village in Betul district is set to become an 'Astro-Village,' opening up new opportunities for both tourists and local residents. The initiative aims to promote astronomy-based tourism and rural tourism, while also creating new employment avenues for local youth.
The Astro-Village training program has been launched jointly by the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board and Stargazing India. Local youth will be trained as "Astro-guides" to help visitors understand stars, planets, constellations, and the Milky Way.
Bacha village is already renowned for its homestays. It was selected due to its serene atmosphere and low light pollution, making it an ideal location for stargazing. Tourists will be able to observe the night sky using modern telescopes in an open, natural setting.
During the launch event, discussions were held with villagers regarding rural development and self-reliance. Visitors and participants also had the opportunity to view the planet Saturn through telescopes.
It is expected that this project will equip local youth with new skills and enable villagers to earn income through tourism and homestay services.
