India-West Indies T20: Holkar Stadium Ready for Big Clash; around 27,500 spectators expected as final preparations take shape in Indore; what will the weather be like?
Indore: Holkar Stadium is gearing up for the thrilling T20 International match between India and the West Indies scheduled for October 11. The match will start at 7 PM, and an attendance of approximately 27,500 spectators is expected. Preparations are in the final stages; cleaning work is underway inside the stadium, and railings are being installed outside to manage the crowd.
Relief from Rain: Dry Weather Expected
Weather conditions are expected to be favorable. Meteorologist Anand Harshana stated that there is no forecast of rain between October 8 and 12. With the monsoon season having ended, dry weather is likely to prevail.
MPCA CEO Rohit Pandit said that almost all preparations are complete. A backup plan is also in place to cover the entire field in the event of sudden rain.
Tightened Security for Spectators
Managing a large crowd will be a significant challenge. Around 160 CCTV cameras have been installed inside the stadium, and the surrounding areas will also be monitored. Face-recognition technology will further bolster security, with police and MPCA officials working in tandem.
Spectators are advised to check the entry gate specified on their tickets and arrive well before the match starts to avoid last-minute rushes and delays caused by security checks.
Expect Big Shots Due to Short Boundaries
Holkar Stadium is known for its short boundaries, measuring approximately 56 meters square of the wicket and 68 meters straight down the ground. These dimensions make it an ideal venue for big shots and high-scoring T20 cricket. The pitch is also being prepared to suit this format, raising expectations for an exciting contest.
India's ODI record at Holkar
India had won their first seven ODI matches at this venue, but New Zealand halted the winning streak in January 2026 by securing a 41-run victory. India's ODI record here now stands at seven wins out of eight matches.
This stadium also witnessed Virender Sehwag's historic innings of 219 runs against the West Indies on December 8, 2011, when India posted their highest ODI score of 418/5 at the venue.
