Indian Travellers Can Now Book Burj Khalifa and Singapore Attractions Using UPI
Indian tourists visiting the UAE and Singapore can now enjoy greater convenience when booking popular tourist attractions in these destinations. This has been made possible by the expansion of India’s 'Unified Payments Interface' (UPI). With this facility, tourists can make payments using the UPI apps they are already familiar with, eliminating the hassle of arranging foreign currency or navigating complex international payment methods.
NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL)—the international arm of the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI)—has enabled UPI payments for online bookings at 'At the Top, Burj Khalifa' in Dubai and 'Resorts World Sentosa' in Singapore.
For Indian tourists, this means they can book tickets and other experiences in advance and pay directly through their UPI-enabled apps. In the case of the Burj Khalifa, this marks the first instance of a tourist attraction in the UAE adopting UPI for e-commerce transactions. In Singapore, the facility is available for major attractions at 'Resorts World Sentosa,' including Universal Studios Singapore, the S.E.A. Aquarium (Singapore Oceanarium), and Adventure Cove Waterpark.
This new feature is expected to make planning international trips easier, faster, and more convenient. It will reduce challenges related to foreign currency and provide a familiar, secure payment experience.
India’s growing international digital payment network
This initiative further strengthens India’s growing international digital payment network. Currently, UPI is accepted in ten countries, including Singapore, the UAE, France, Mauritius, Nepal, Bhutan, Qatar, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, and Greece. Uzbekistan is also set to become the 11th country to adopt it soon. This expansion strengthens India's digital payments presence globally, making traveling abroad even more convenient for Indian tourists.
