Message of a 'Developed India' and a 'Prosperous Madhya Pradesh' Conveyed Through Over 1.08 Lakh Handmade Greeting Cards
A Historic Milestone Achieved by the Youth of Madhya Pradesh in the 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyan'
Bhopal: As part of the 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyan'—conducted from September 17 to October 17, 2026, to mark the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi—the Department of Higher Education launched an innovative initiative to showcase the creative talent, social consciousness, and commitment to nation-building among students.
Surpassing the initial target of creating one lakh cards, students from colleges across the state produced a total of 108,880 handmade greeting cards. Students from over 55 districts, participating through seven administrative divisions, used their artistic expression to convey the vision of a 'Developed India @2047' (Viksit Bharat @2047) and a 'Prosperous Madhya Pradesh' (Samriddh Madhya Pradesh) to the public.
Students Demonstrate Creative Talent Across Eight Key Themes
Under this campaign, students crafted greeting cards centered on eight major themes: Environment and Resource Conservation; Nation-Building and Tales of Valor; Social Consciousness and Health; Culture and Heritage; Knowledge, Technology, and Innovation; Agriculture and Rural Development; Poetic and Literary Expression; and Women's Empowerment alongside contemporary issues. These cards effectively reflected the students' imagination, artistic skills, and deep concern for social issues.
Messages on Environmental Conservation and Social Consciousness
The theme of 'Environment and Resource Conservation' highlighted topics such as water and energy conservation, the adoption of a plastic-free lifestyle, and the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' (A Tree in the Name of Mother) initiative.
Cards focused on 'Social Consciousness and Health' promoted public awareness and social responsibility by addressing critical subjects like women's empowerment, mental health, de-addiction, and the significance of organ donation ('Angdaan – Mahadaan'). Patriotism, Valor, and the Vision of a Developed India
Focusing on the themes of nation-building and sagas of valor, students creatively presented the bravery of the Indian Armed Forces, the vision of a 'Developed India @2047' (Viksit Bharat @2047), and the aspiration for a prosperous Madhya Pradesh. Through their cards, they conveyed messages centered on respect for the nation, a sense of duty, and the active participation of youth in nation-building.
Creative Showcase of Folk Art and Cultural Heritage
Under the themes of culture, festivals, and heritage, the students highlighted various festivals—including Diwali—as well as the Gond, Mandana, and Bhil art forms of Madhya Pradesh, traditional folk dances, and other cultural expressions. Through their artwork, the students made a meaningful effort to preserve these folk traditions and pass them on to the next generation, while simultaneously showcasing the state's rich cultural diversity.
Expression of Knowledge, Technology, Innovation, and Rural Development
Regarding knowledge, technology, and innovation, cards were created on topics such as India’s traditional knowledge systems, quality education, digital literacy, cybersecurity, the responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI), and entrepreneurship. In the realm of agriculture and rural development, concepts like organic farming and modern agricultural techniques were presented creatively.
Through poetry and literary expression, students showcased both their own original poems and works by renowned literary figures. Furthermore, themes concerning 'women's power' (Nari Shakti) and contemporary issues brought focus to vital topics such as girls' education and inclusive development.
From Colleges to the Directorate: The Journey of Handmade Cards
The process of creating and compiling these cards took place at the college level. Cards prepared by students were collected through their respective colleges, district lead colleges, and the offices of Additional Directors, eventually reaching the Directorate of Higher Education. Plans are underway to organize a special exhibition of the selected cards, which will serve as a platform to showcase the students' artistic talent, innovative thinking, and the social messages they have conveyed.
A Message of Service, Social Responsibility, and Nation-Building
The 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyan' (Commitment to Service Campaign) is a meaningful initiative aimed at shaping students into sensitive, aware, and responsible citizens by connecting their academic pursuits with social concerns. Through the creation of handmade greeting cards, students have given creative expression to their emotions, ideas, and social commitments.
This initiative has served as an effective medium for linking education with a spirit of service, cultural consciousness, social responsibility, and nation-building. An upcoming exhibition of selected cards will provide students with an opportunity to showcase their talent and share their positive messages with the wider community.
