Riders Captivated by the Beauty of Sabarvani and Tamia; Adventure Tourism Gets a Boost in MP's Chhindwara
A new breed of tourists is visiting Chhindwara—adventure riders who are exploring Madhya Pradesh on motorcycles rather than tourist buses.
Over the course of a 10-day, 1,520-kilometer motorcycle journey, 22 riders from India and France visited tourism-focused villages like Sabarvani and Tamia. Riding through the Satpura forests towards Pench Tiger Reserve, they experienced the local scenery, culture, and wildlife along the way.
This expedition is being organized through a partnership between the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board and Royal Enfield. Its objective is to promote experiential and responsible tourism while developing new, specialized motorcycle routes. The initiative is also expected to create opportunities for local communities through homestays, tourism services, and other employment avenues.
In Tamia, the riders visited the famous rest house, where they were welcomed by the district administration. They were introduced to local homestays, the Dhusawani Astro Village, and other notable sites. Tourism activist Pawan Shrivastava provided insights into Tamia and the nearby Patalkot Valley.
The riders also met mountaineer Bhawna Dehariya, a native of Tamia who has scaled Mount Everest.
Earlier, in Sabarvani, the group visited homestays and enjoyed local folk performances before heading towards Pench Tiger Reserve.
Participants in this journey have come from Maharashtra, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Kerala. Among them is 55-year-old Fabienne Christine Janine Dupuis from Paris, France, who is very excited to explore the forests, wildlife, and natural landscapes of Madhya Pradesh on a motorcycle.
For the riders, this journey is full of adventure. For local communities, it could open up new opportunities for tourism and employment.
