SW Monsoon 2026 departs from Madhya Pradesh: Was rainfall below normal this season?
Bhopal: The monsoon has departed from Madhya Pradesh. The state remained active for nearly 100 days. This year, 908.4 mm (35.8 inches) of rainfall occurred, which is 4 percent less than normal. The rainfall quota was met in 25 districts, including Bhopal, Gwalior, Rajgarh, and Katni. There will be no rain in Madhya Pradesh for the next four days, and it will be hot during the day and cool at night.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the monsoon entered on June 24 and departed on October 3. This time the monsoon was active for 100 days. During the southwest monsoon season, a total of 908.4 mm (35.8 inches) of rainfall occurred in Madhya Pradesh. This is 1.5 inches less than the normal rainfall of 37.3 inches (949.5 mm). Overall, there was 4 percent less rainfall. The eastern part received 4 percent more rainfall and the western part received 12 percent less rainfall than the average.
Rainfall quota reached in 25 districts
The rainfall quota has been reached in 25 districts of the state. These include Bhopal, Gwalior, Rajgarh, Katni, Shahdol, Sheopur, Singrauli, Satna, Sidhi, Mauganj, Anuppur, Umaria, Burhanpur, Mandla, Khargone, Dindori, Datia, Guna, Panna, Niwari, Bhind, Maihar, Tikamgarh, Agar Malwa and Chhatarpur.
Less rainfall in 30 dists
Meanwhile, 30 districts received less rainfall, including Indore, Ujjain, Jabalpur, Vidisha, Rewa, Raisen, Sehore, Sagar, Seoni, Shivpuri, Shajapur, Ashoknagar, Balaghat, Mandsaur, Morena, Betul, Barwani, Khandwa, Narmadapuram, Narsinghpur, Neemuch, Harda, Jhabua, Ratlam, Alirajpur, Dhar, Dewas, Damoh, Chhindwara, and Pandhurna.
Possibility of rain on October 7
According to the Meteorological Department, this month will be warm during the day, while the nights will be cold. The minimum temperature in most cities is expected to remain below 20 degrees. Drizzle will continue in October. On October 7th, eastern areas of Panna, Satna, Rewa, Sidhi, and Singrauli are likely to experience rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.
