Historic Moment For India As Chandrayaan 2 To touch Moon Surface At 1:40 AM On September 07

Indian second moon mission is going to land on moon in wee hours i.e. 1:40 AM on September 07 2019.  And ISRO is going ahead for a soft landing which is not been done by any other country so far.   It will land in the South Pole of the moon.

Chandrayan 2 lander Vikram is going to slowly descent on September 07 at 1:40 AM from a height of 35 Km above the lunar surface and a velocity of around 6000 Kmph. In just over 10 minutes the Vikram lander will drop to a height of 7.4 Km above the moon altitude and lower its sped to around 526 Kmph.  Over next 38 seconds, the Vikram lander will further reduce its speed 331.2 Kmph and reach a height of 5 Km above the lunar surface.  The next 1.5 minutes will see the Vikram lander further reduce its altitude to 400 meters above the lunar surface.  the chandrayaan 2 lander will also expected to lose more velocity and reach a speed of 100 Kmph.

At this height the Vikram lander will hover for about 25 seconds during which it will choose between two predetermined landing sites.  The Chandrayaan 2 lander's on board instruments will give Vikram the necessary data to make this decision.

At the time of landing ISRO will not be able to give commands to Chandrayaan 2 for about 2 hours.  And it will land at by its own without getting the command of ISRO.  Today Prime Minister Modi along with 70 school students will be present at ISRO Bengaluru Center to mark the historic moment which will be seen all over the world.  Natgeo is going to show this historic event live to its viewers.
