A new species of snake has been named after the younger son of Shiv Sena Chief Tejas. The snake is found in the Western Ghats of Maharashtra. According to confirmed sources Tejas has contributed a lot in the discovery of this snake species and because of that it is named after him. Tejas is the younger son of Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray
According to the Director of Pune-based Biodiversity Conservation Varad Giri, this species of snakes falls into the category of 'cat snakes' in common language and belongs to the 'Boiga' lineage. He also added that a research paper describing the new snake species was published on Thursday in the journal Bombay Natural History Society.
According to Giri, "Snakes of this lineage are found all over India, but some are limited to Western Ghats." The contribution of Tejas Thackeray in this discovery is inseparable so this species of snakes has been named 'Thackerage Cat Snake' (scientific name Boiga Thackeray).
