Governor Administers Oath Of Office And Secrecy To MLA's In Maharashtra

The special session of the assembly started on Wednesday morning following Governor of the state to administer oath of office and secrecy to 288 MLAs in Maharashtra.

Protem Speaker Kalidas Kolambkar is administering the oath to the newly elected MLAs: Ajit Pawar, Chhagan Bhujbal, Ashok Chavan and Prithviraj Chavan were among the first to take oath. Members are being administered oath on the basis of seniority order.

Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari appointed Kolambkar as the Protem Speaker on Tuesday evening. The newly elected members could not take oath even a month after the results of the assembly elections due to the dramatic developments going on in the state. Due to the inability of any political party to form a government, President's rule remained in force from November 12 to November 23.

Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray will take oath as Chief Minister at Shivaji Park on Thursday, November 28 at 5 pm and extensive preparations are going on for this. Uddhav Thackeray will meet Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari before taking oath as Chief Minister.

Uddhav Thackeray's wife will also be present with him on this occasion. Significantly, on Tuesday night, the Governor appointed Uddhav as the Chief Minister. Let me tell you that within a few hours of the resignation of NCP leader and deputy CM Ajit Pawar on Tuesday, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis submitted his resignation to Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari citing lack of sufficient strength to prove majority.
