Preparations In Full Swing To Hang Nirbhaya Rapist

The mercy petition of Vinay Sharma, convicted of the country's most incarcerated Nirbhaya rape case is now with the President.  The Tihar jail administration has started preparing to hang the accused.  

According to the information received from the sources, the death warrant will be taken from the court as soon as the petition is dismissed, which will clear the way for hanging.

 According to the reports Tihar Jail does not have its own executioner.  Therefore, the jail administration has started talks with officials of many jails of South India and Uttar Pradesh.  

Earlier, even at the time of hanging Afzal Guru, there was no executioner in Tihar Jail.  At that time one of the prison officials hanged Afzal.  Sources say that in the present situation the jail administration cannot appoint any executioner.

Media and Entertainment sector lower downs 24% in 2020 despite last-quarter rebound

  India's media and entertainment (M&E) sector lower downed 24% to Rs1.38 trillion in 2020 due to the corona-virus pandemic. The contractions came despite a rebound in the last-quarter. The M&E sector is supposed to expand 25% to Rs1.73 trillion in 2021 and compound annual growth rate of 13.7% to Rs2.23 trillion by 2023, according to a joint report by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry(Ficci) and EY, finance consulting firm.  While advertisement revenues dropped 25% to 19,900 crore and subscriptions fell 20% to 15,400 crores. Digital advertisement remained unchanged, but print (Rs 8,400 crore) and television (Rs 6,900 crore) advertising saw the steepest declines. The only segments that rose in 2020 were digital and online gaming, which added a total of Rs 2,600 crore and their contribution to the M&E sector rose from 16% in 2019 to 23% in 2020.
