1 Dead, 5 Injured, Anti CAA protest in Bengal turned violent

The protest against CAA and NRC has taken a violent turn in West Bengal.Violence erupted after clashes between Trinamool Congress leaders and locals on Wednesday in Jalangi area of ​​Murshidabad. A  number of police forces have reached the spot. However one person lost his life in this violence, while one is said to be missing. Apart from this, five are seriously injured.

The incident happened when  the local people were observing a bandh in the area. A large number of cars, reportedly led by TMC arrived at the spot and allegedly started firing on the protesters. The TMC leaders denied the charges against them and blamed Congress and CPM supporters for the attack on them.

Media and Entertainment sector lower downs 24% in 2020 despite last-quarter rebound

  India's media and entertainment (M&E) sector lower downed 24% to Rs1.38 trillion in 2020 due to the corona-virus pandemic. The contractions came despite a rebound in the last-quarter. The M&E sector is supposed to expand 25% to Rs1.73 trillion in 2021 and compound annual growth rate of 13.7% to Rs2.23 trillion by 2023, according to a joint report by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry(Ficci) and EY, finance consulting firm.  While advertisement revenues dropped 25% to 19,900 crore and subscriptions fell 20% to 15,400 crores. Digital advertisement remained unchanged, but print (Rs 8,400 crore) and television (Rs 6,900 crore) advertising saw the steepest declines. The only segments that rose in 2020 were digital and online gaming, which added a total of Rs 2,600 crore and their contribution to the M&E sector rose from 16% in 2019 to 23% in 2020.
