Badminton Champion Saina Nehwal joins BJP

After bagging many medals for India for badminton, Saina Nehwal is now ready for trying her luck in politics.29 year old, Saina joined Bharatiya Janata Party today. Her elder sister Chandrashu Nehwal has also joined BJP.

Badminton champion Saina and her sister were welcomed and given party membership at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi.  BJP General Secretary Arun Singh said that it is a matter of pride that Saina Nehwal is now a part of BJP.

Saina was born in Haryana on 17th March and also won Arjuna Award for badminton. She also won Padma Shri and Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna and was honored with  Padma Bhushan in 2016.

Media and Entertainment sector lower downs 24% in 2020 despite last-quarter rebound

  India's media and entertainment (M&E) sector lower downed 24% to Rs1.38 trillion in 2020 due to the corona-virus pandemic. The contractions came despite a rebound in the last-quarter. The M&E sector is supposed to expand 25% to Rs1.73 trillion in 2021 and compound annual growth rate of 13.7% to Rs2.23 trillion by 2023, according to a joint report by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry(Ficci) and EY, finance consulting firm.  While advertisement revenues dropped 25% to 19,900 crore and subscriptions fell 20% to 15,400 crores. Digital advertisement remained unchanged, but print (Rs 8,400 crore) and television (Rs 6,900 crore) advertising saw the steepest declines. The only segments that rose in 2020 were digital and online gaming, which added a total of Rs 2,600 crore and their contribution to the M&E sector rose from 16% in 2019 to 23% in 2020.
