After CAA, Congress now prepares strategy to oppose NPR

The protest against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) is going across the country. Congress has now started making strategies to oppose the National Population Register i.e NPR, for which the party has called a meeting of all its MPs, secretaries and other party officials which will be at 6 pm on February 4.

Like CAA, many opposition parties have come together against NPR also. Apart from this, many petitions have also been filed in the Supreme Court. One of which is the petition of three farmers who have sought to declare the process of updation of NPR void and claimed it as unconstitutional. Earlier, the apex court had issued notices to the central government on two other petitions.

NPR empowers the central government to mandatory register every citizen of the country.Along with which it also gives the right to issue a separate identity card for every citizen.
