Balasaheb Thackeray popularly known as Bal Thackeray was born in 1926 in Pune. Today on his 94th birth anniversary Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to him. PM on his twitter wrote 'Remembering Balasaheb Thackeray on his birth anniversary. He will always be remembered as a brave leader who worked tirelessly towards fulfilling the aspirations of people'.


The founder of Shiv Sena, Bal Thackeray fought a long battle for the rights of Maharashtrians. He started his career as a cartoonist and worked totally on Hindutva ideology.

 Recently Shiv Sena formed government in the state of Maharashtra with the support of Congress and NCP after a long political drama, and broke its old alliance with BJP.

Media and Entertainment sector lower downs 24% in 2020 despite last-quarter rebound

  India's media and entertainment (M&E) sector lower downed 24% to Rs1.38 trillion in 2020 due to the corona-virus pandemic. The contractions came despite a rebound in the last-quarter. The M&E sector is supposed to expand 25% to Rs1.73 trillion in 2021 and compound annual growth rate of 13.7% to Rs2.23 trillion by 2023, according to a joint report by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry(Ficci) and EY, finance consulting firm.  While advertisement revenues dropped 25% to 19,900 crore and subscriptions fell 20% to 15,400 crores. Digital advertisement remained unchanged, but print (Rs 8,400 crore) and television (Rs 6,900 crore) advertising saw the steepest declines. The only segments that rose in 2020 were digital and online gaming, which added a total of Rs 2,600 crore and their contribution to the M&E sector rose from 16% in 2019 to 23% in 2020.
