Preparation In Tihar Jail For Nirbhaya's Convicts

The Tihar Jail administration has made full preparations for the hanging of the convicts of Delhi's Nirbhaya gang rape and murder.  The four convicts will be given capital punishment tomorrow at 6 am in Tihar Jail.  But will the culprits be hanged?  This will be decided today.

Today, Irfan Ahmed, representing the Tihar Jail Administration in the Supreme Court, has said that on February 1, the three convicts of Nirbhaya can be hanged.  Tihar administration has made complete preparations for this.  The mercy petition of only one convict Vinay Sharma is pending before the President.  Therefore, except Vinay, three convicts can be hanged.  At the same time, the court has reserved the decision in this case.  It is believed that the court can give its final verdict on the case today.

The petition filed by the convicts in the Supreme Court is being heard.  The convicts have demanded a stay on the death sentence on 1 February.  The counsel for the Tihar Jail Administration has said that hearing this petition of the convicts does not make any sense as this petition is not eligible.  The same convict Pawan has filed a reconsideration petition in the Supreme Court in which he has challenged the order of dismissal of the minor petition.

Before hanging, new tactics are being played daily to avoid death sentence.  The convict's lawyer AP Singh has said that the five judges of the court who gave the verdict and the President are not God?  It is not that he cannot make mistakes.  This is said after the Supreme Court rejected the corrective plea of the guilty Akshay on Thursday.  The counsel for the convicts has said that a review and document related to the conviction of the accused Pawan Gupta will be filed.

All options of Mukesh, convicted of Nirbhaya, are over.  The mercy petition of the same Vinay Sharma is still under consideration and Akshay has the option of filing a mercy petition right now and Pawan Gupta has the option to file both a corrective and a mercy petition.  Now if we talk about the rules, then the hanging of the culprits can be postponed.  Because if a convict is to be hanged and his plea is pending, then the execution can be stopped.  The same appears in the Nirbhaya case.  The four convicts are to be hanged on February 1.
