First Menstrual Cycle Confirms Girl As Adult According To Pak Court

According to the latest reports coming in of caste conversion of a catholic girl from Pakistan coming in where a 14-year-old Pakistani Catholic girl was allegedly abducted from her residence in Karachi, converted to Islam and married to a Muslim man has come up.

According to reports the parents are not able to meet their daughter since October 14  last year.  That was the day when she was kidnapped.

The case is being heard by a two member bench which is deciding whether the girl is minor or major.  The Judges gave the decision that under the Shariat and Islamic laws if the girl has already had her first 'menstrual cycle', then she would be considered an adult making her marriage with her abductor legal and justified.

The statements of the two judges left the parents of Huma in a state of shock.  The parents added, "We were in a state of shock when the judges did not consider our evidence and referred to Sharia Law to justify the marriage. We were expecting to see our daughter at the court hearing. We haven't been able to see her since her abduction on October 14. We also hoped that the court would deliver justice and hand us the custody of our daughter," the father  added.  According to reports the parents had provided documentary evidence including a Catholic baptismal certificate and testimony from her school verifying her age which they claimed May 22, 2005.

But the comments from the judges left the girl's family heartbroken and hopeless of getting any justice from the Pakistani courts.  Next hearing date of the case is now March 3 and the court has given more time for the authorities to determine the age of the girl.
