Massive Explosion In Punjab During Religions Procession

Reports came in from Punjab where there have been a massive explosion between tractor trolley collision during a religious procession killing two people and injuring nine.

According to reports blast occurred during a nagar kirtan a religious procession near Pahu village, Tarn Taran district, Punjab, on February 8, 2020.

An ex gratia payment of RS 5 Lakh to the next of the kin and free treatment for the injured has been announced by CM as well as probe to the incident have also been ordered.

The deceased have been identified as Manpreet Singh, 17, and Gurpreet Singh, 12.

A video shot at the blast site showed the vehicle standing on a road and a pool of blood near the mortal remains of one of the victims, covered with cloth.

"During the nagar kirtan, youths were bursting crackers as part of celebratory fireworks. As they were doing so, the sparks fell on the tractor trolley which was carrying explosive material which led to an explosion.

Media and Entertainment sector lower downs 24% in 2020 despite last-quarter rebound

  India's media and entertainment (M&E) sector lower downed 24% to Rs1.38 trillion in 2020 due to the corona-virus pandemic. The contractions came despite a rebound in the last-quarter. The M&E sector is supposed to expand 25% to Rs1.73 trillion in 2021 and compound annual growth rate of 13.7% to Rs2.23 trillion by 2023, according to a joint report by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry(Ficci) and EY, finance consulting firm.  While advertisement revenues dropped 25% to 19,900 crore and subscriptions fell 20% to 15,400 crores. Digital advertisement remained unchanged, but print (Rs 8,400 crore) and television (Rs 6,900 crore) advertising saw the steepest declines. The only segments that rose in 2020 were digital and online gaming, which added a total of Rs 2,600 crore and their contribution to the M&E sector rose from 16% in 2019 to 23% in 2020.
