Delhi High Court Extends Interim Bail To 2177 Undertrials Due To Covid-19

An unprecedented move by the Delhi High Court has extended the interim bail granted to 2177 undertrials for another 45 days.

As per reports in April interim bail of 45 days was granted to 2177 undertrials who were behind bars and their cases were pending under various courts in the city.

Now with the view of the present prevailing conditions of covid-19 the undertrials who were granted bail in April have received an extension of another 45 days in their bail.

Media and Entertainment sector lower downs 24% in 2020 despite last-quarter rebound

  India's media and entertainment (M&E) sector lower downed 24% to Rs1.38 trillion in 2020 due to the corona-virus pandemic. The contractions came despite a rebound in the last-quarter. The M&E sector is supposed to expand 25% to Rs1.73 trillion in 2021 and compound annual growth rate of 13.7% to Rs2.23 trillion by 2023, according to a joint report by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry(Ficci) and EY, finance consulting firm.  While advertisement revenues dropped 25% to 19,900 crore and subscriptions fell 20% to 15,400 crores. Digital advertisement remained unchanged, but print (Rs 8,400 crore) and television (Rs 6,900 crore) advertising saw the steepest declines. The only segments that rose in 2020 were digital and online gaming, which added a total of Rs 2,600 crore and their contribution to the M&E sector rose from 16% in 2019 to 23% in 2020.
