Reports are coming in that finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman will address media on June 20, 2020 in view of Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyan.
Nirmala Sitharaman said that workers from all over the country wanted to go back to their villages a little while after lockdown began and Central and state government made some arrangements and they have gone back. Government have looked at the district to which they have largely returned. Government has found that there are 116 district spread over six states where worker returned in large numbers. These six states are Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand ,Madhya Pradesh Odisha and Rajasthan.
Every migrant residing in these States, who need assignments will be given work under Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyan. This scheme will require expenditure of Rs 50,000 crores. Money allotted for this will be front loaded.
