Republic TV Editor In Chief Arnab Goswami Bail Rejected By High Court

Reports have been coming in from Maharashtra where in a major decision Bombay High Court refuses to grant interim bail to Arnab Goswami. 

However, the High Court has directed him to approach a lower court to seek bail.  Republic TV editor in chief Arnab Goswami has been arrested in 2018 abetment Anvay Naik suicide case.

Goswami and two others Feroz Shaikh and Nitish Sarda  were arrested by Alibaug Police on November 04 in connection with the suicide of architect interior designer Anvay Naik and his mother in 2018 over alleged non-payment of dues by companies of the accused.

Goswami was first kept in a local school which was a designated Covid center for the Alibaug prison. 

But yesterday he has been shifted to Taloja Jail in Maharashtra Raigad district.  This was being done as he was allegedly being found using a mobile phone while in judicial custody.

He was regularly found active on his social media accounts and was using somebody's else mobile.

Media and Entertainment sector lower downs 24% in 2020 despite last-quarter rebound

  India's media and entertainment (M&E) sector lower downed 24% to Rs1.38 trillion in 2020 due to the corona-virus pandemic. The contractions came despite a rebound in the last-quarter. The M&E sector is supposed to expand 25% to Rs1.73 trillion in 2021 and compound annual growth rate of 13.7% to Rs2.23 trillion by 2023, according to a joint report by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry(Ficci) and EY, finance consulting firm.  While advertisement revenues dropped 25% to 19,900 crore and subscriptions fell 20% to 15,400 crores. Digital advertisement remained unchanged, but print (Rs 8,400 crore) and television (Rs 6,900 crore) advertising saw the steepest declines. The only segments that rose in 2020 were digital and online gaming, which added a total of Rs 2,600 crore and their contribution to the M&E sector rose from 16% in 2019 to 23% in 2020.
