BHU students protest on a proposal to make Nita Ambani as visiting professor

 



In Varanasi, Students at Banaras Hindu University are protesting a plan to appoint Nita Ambani, Reliance Industries executive director, as a visiting professor at the university's Centre for Women's Studies and Development.


BHU students saying, instead of Nita Ambani, those persons should be invited who have set an example of women empowerment. Around 40 students protested outside the residence of Vice Chancellor Rakesh Bhatnagar.


"Nita Ambani is a women entrepreneur and has done great things in her life. If she joins our centre, the women of Purvanchal will be benefited from her experience", said Professor Nidhi Sharma, coordinator of the Centre for Women's Studies and Development.



Recently, a proposal sent by the faculty of the university's social science department to Nita Ambani, asking to join as visiting professor at a women study centre in the University. 


However, Reliance Industries said that no such invitation has received from the University.
